Christmas at Assumption
As Assumption College welcomes the month of November and the crisp fall weather that comes with it, students are reminded that Christmas is right around the corner. Whether you are curled up to a movie with a mug of hot chocolate or outside making snowmen in the freshly fallen snow, the holiday season is one that brings cheer to all. Every year at Assumption, the community comes together to celebrate the season during many festive events. This year The Student Government Association (SGA) is hard at work planning some of our students’ favorite Christmas events.
The annual Christmas Tree Lighting will be on Wednesday, November 29 at 7pm on Hagan Lawn. We hope that you join us as we count down to light the tree in front of Hagan Campus Center and to ring in the holiday season on campus. This year you can look forward to seeing multi-colored lights on the tree, and lights on three of the poles in front of Hagan. Also, Music Ministry will join Hound Sound and VOCE in signing Christmas Carols, showcasing some of our most talented students. This year’s speakers will include President Cesareo, Father Richard Lamoureux, and SGA president Ian Burns. Come to Hagan Lawn on November 29, grab a holiday cookie and some hot chocolate and sing along with us as we light the way… I mean the tree.
Christmas in Charlie’s will be on Wednesday December 6 from 11am to 2pm. Charlie’s will be transformed into a winter wonderland with crafts, food, and giveaways at tables in front of each office. The Student Government table will be Christmas cookie decorating and egg nog, and students can also look forward to decorating ornaments, stockings, and making polaroid picture magnets. It wouldn’t be Christmas in Charlie’s without Santa and his friends running around, so make sure you are on the nice list as Santa will be in the building. Campus Police will be doing their annual “tickets for tots” by offering parking ticket forgiveness for a toy or cash donation to Toys for Tots. This is a great opportunity to not only get rid of some of your tickets, but also give back during the holiday season.
Although it is not an SGA event, you will not want to miss the Christmas Dinner Buffet with President Cesareo and his wife on Wednesday, December 6 from 4:30-6:30pm in the Testa Atrium. Celebrate the holidays with the Cesareo’s with delicious food and good conversation.
Midnight Breakfast will be on December 7 from 10 p.m.-12 a.m. in Taylor Dining Hall. Take a study break by coming to this beloved late-night breakfast in Taylor for free. You do not need to use a meal swipe to enjoy this holiday breakfast. Assumption College Staff and Administration will be serving the food, so you can expect to see Dean Conway serving your eggs or President Cesareo serving your pancakes. The first 100 students who come to the event will get a free Midnight Breakfast t-shirt. Join the Assumption college community for this fun annual event.
Even though it’s only November, Christmas is quickly approaching, as are all of these exciting events. Get in the holiday spirit by joining SGA this Christmas season to unite as an Assumption College community in a time of giving, faith and joy.
