NACA stands for the National Association for Campus Activities. This conference, which takes place in Hartford, CT, is the site where campus late night planning blooms. Assumption’s Campus Activities Board is responsible for about 80% of the late night programming.

For the NACA Northeast conference, CAB (Campus Activities Board) is sending six delegates. Macee Buckley and Kayli Berardinelli look to lead the group of executives. Among attendees is Lauren Healey and Maddie Lawlor (Outreach Execs), Lauren Salerno (Weekend Entertainment) and Alyssa Bergamasco (Social Media). Only one member of this team has attended NACA in the past so it will be a new and fun experience for everyone. When asked about her upcoming NACA experience, Alyssa Bergamasco says, “I look forward to have the opportunity to reach out to other New England schools and bring new, fun entertainment to campus. I am very honored to be one of the executives to represent Assumption College CAB at NACA.”

This year, the conference occurs on November 1-3. The delegates from Assumption will take in performance shows of various acts from around the country. There will also be educational sessions for the executives to learn about various aspects of campus programming. The team from Assumption has entered three competitions for their designs within the past semester. The very popular tie dye welcome back week shirt is entered for Best T Shirt Design. Iced coffee sleeves are entered for Best Promotional Item. Lastly, the Family Weekend logo is in the competition for best logo.

Last year, the group that went to NACA saw performances of fire dancers, singers, poets, comedians, magicians and more. Some previous people who came to campus include Abe Parker (singer songwriter), John Cassidy (balloon magician) and Dancakes (Pancake Man). NACA has proved to be successful for finding great and exciting events. Who knows what we will find and see at NACA this year?

At the conclusion of the conference, the representatives will come back to Assumption with new connections, new ideas and new talent. The delegates will be sharing their experiences upon return. Be sure to check out the NACA experience at an upcoming CAB meeting. New members are always welcome. CAB meets every Wednesday at 6:30 in the SARR (Student Activities Resource Room).
