Hello everyone, for those who may not know me, I am Kenny Allard a member of the class of 2021. I am one of the weekend entertainment executives for the Campus Activities Board. On January 26th, I hosted an escape room event for CAB.

For the longest time, students at Assumption have been requesting we bring an escape room to the school. We heard you, and we delivered.

Upon our set up, we discovered that the theme of the escape room was HARRY POTTER. Along with the escape room, we also had your favorite childhood game of life-size Candyland, human whack-a-mole and a photo booth. I also ordered twelve dozen gourmet donuts from Rocco’s Donuts in Millbury, MA. We had a variety of donuts that included; Samoa’s, Strawberry Shortcake, Maple Bacon, Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Fruity Pebbles. Not a single donut was left after the event.

While we had some down time, we played a round of Candyland. It was nice to be reminded of our childhood while playing this game. While going through the game, we saw familiar faces that included Gramma Nutt, Lord Licorice and Princess Frostine. It was fun making your way to the end of the game, while watching your friends meet their doom by getting a card that made them go back to the beginning.

After we were done setting up, we as a team had some time to do the escape room ourselves. For those of you do not know what an escape room is, you and seven other people are trapped in a room and you must solve your way out of the first room, to make your way into the second. It was extremely challenging trying to figure out how to get out of the room.

However, we all worked together as a team and had a blast while doing so. We finally figured out the last clue, and the door to the second room automatically flew open which was wicked awesome. It took us about 30 minutes to get out of a 15 minutes escape room. We hope to bring back an escape room to Assumption soon.

See you at my next event on February 23rd, where comedian Chris James will be performing in Charlie’s and we will be serving you a very special treat that we have never had before.

Kenny Allard, a sophomore, studies Political Science. He is a staff writer for Le Provocateur.
