Campus Activities Board: Lights, camera, CAB events

In case you missed it, CAB's Welcome Back Week had all you needed to "Tube into 2010" at Assumption. The week began with "What You Didn't Get for Christmas Bingo!" at 8 p.m. in Taylor Dining Hall on Tuesday, January 19, congratulations to all of the winners. Wednesday, January 20 was Paint Your Own Pottery theme day in Charlie's. Also during the event tickets were sold to see "The Lion King" at the Bushnell Theater in Hartford, Connecticut on Sunday, January 31. The weekend ended with two great evening performances, beginning with "The Amazing Magic Show" on Thursday, January 21 in Charlie's, followed by a Late Night at Charlie's event featuring comedian Evan Wecksell on Friday, January 22. Thank you to everyone who came out to events during Welcome Back Week, it was a great success.During the month of February, CAB is rolling out the red carpet to give you the Hollywood treatment at our events. This month will feature events ranging from live bands and a game show to a hilarious comedian, Spring Ball ticket sales and Sibling's Weekend 2010: "Lights, Camera, Sibs."

Are you low on cash this semester? On Friday, February 12, Dash for Dollars will give you the chance to win up to $500. This Late Night at Charlie's event begins at 9 p.m. Following Dash for Dollars, Live @ Charlie's presents a Battle of the Bands Competition on Thursday, February 18 at 8 p.m. This event will bring all musical talents of Assumption College students and is not to be missed. If you love to laugh, February's comedian, Pete Lee will be in Charlie's on Saturday, February 20 beginning at 8:30 p.m. Pete Lee has appeared on Comedy Central's Premium Blend, NBC's Last Comic Standing and Comedy Central Presents. He has traveled around the country performing for college campuses and comedy clubs.

Juniors and seniors: did you miss your chance to attend the Winter Ball: "A December to Remember?" The Spring Ball: "Mardi Gras Masquerade" will take place on Saturday, March 27 from 6 p.m. - 12 a.m. at the DCU Center in Worcester. Ticket sales are coming up on Tuesday, February 23 for seniors ONLY and Wednesday, February 24 for juniors ONLY. Both days, CAB will be selling tickets from 12 p.m. -3p.m. in the Hagan Campus Center hall. The tickets cost $45 per person $90 per couple. In order to purchase tickets, you must have your Assumption College I.D. Two tickets will be available per I.D. and two tickets per student. We hope to see you there in your formal wear.

The theme for this year's Sibling's Weekend is "Lights, Camera, Sibs." Join the Campus Activities Board for a weekend full of opportunities to spend time with your siblings. The events are scheduled to begin on Friday, February 26 with an Assumption tradition, Bingo at 7 p.m. in Hagan Campus Center hall. Following Bingo, we will be showing the Disney/Pixar film "Up" during an ice cream social in Charlie's. On Saturday, February 26, the Siblings Weekend Carnival is in the Plourde Recreation Center from 12 p.m.- 3 p.m. and will feature inflatables, novelties and lots of Hollywood fun. Saturday evening will end with a bang featuring the performance of Magician, Jay Mattioli at 8 p.m. in the Plourde Recreation Center. At just eighteen years old, he was hailed by the International Brotherhood of Magicians as a "Champion of Magic," becoming one of the youngest magicians to ever receive this honor. Jay Mattioli has been featured on the television series, "America's Got Talent!" and will be putting on a great show for siblings and students. Registration for the weekend will begin at 4 p.m. and last until 7 p.m. on Friday, February 26 at the Hagan Information Booth and again on Saturday, February 27 from 12p.m. - 3 p.m. in the Plourde Recreation Center. We hope to see everyone and their siblings throughout the weekend.

Interested in planning events on campus? It's the perfect time for new members to attend a CAB meeting. Upcoming events that will be discussed at weekly CAB meetings this semester include the junior/senior Spring Ball and the Spring Concert. We meet every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Activities Resource Room (SARR) located in the basement of Hagan Campus Center. It's a great way to get involved and to meet new people.
