Issue date: 12/5/02 Section: Arts & Entertainment
Calling all Dave Matthews Band fans! DMB has done it again! This past November, the group released its sixth live album, Live at Folsom Field, Boulder, Colorado. This concert took place on the band's summer 2001 tour at the University of Colorado. It features two hours of 21 classic DMB tracks on two discs and was available in stores everywhere on November 5th. Overall this is their twelfth CD and it debuted at #9.

Most of you are probably familiar with the Dave Matthews Band (since being a fan is practically a requirement for admissions here at AC). For those of you cave dwellers who have not heard of, or are not familiar with, DMB, the band started in 1991 and is known for its unique combination of folk, jazz, and classic rock.

The most well known member of the band, Dave Matthews, 35, is the lead vocalist and guitarist. 38 year-old Boyd Tinsley is famous for his talent on the violin. Oldest member of the band, Carter Beauford, 45, plays the drums complimenting 41 year-old saxophonist LeRoi Moore. The youngest of the group, Stefan Lessard, plays the bass guitar and joined the band when he was only 16. And though he is not an official Dave Matthews Band member, pianist Butch Taylor is also worth mentioning as he accompanies the band to most of their concerts.

Now that you have a little bit of background information, here is what the Folsom Field CD has to offer. If you are a fan of the 2001 release Everyday, this new CD will appeal to you. The Folsom Field concert included eight tracks off of Everyday, including radio favorites "The Space Between" and "I Did It." The rest of the show incorporated songs from all of DMB's studio albums ranging from "What Would You Say," off of 1994's Under the Table and Dreaming, to "Big Eyed Fish," a song from Dave's latest album Busted Stuff.

Let me give you a few reasons why you should add Folsom Field to your CD collection. First of all, this concert, recorded in July 2001, was a part of a tour that featured a few additional members to DMB. Hard core Dave fans will know what I am talking about when I say "The Lovely Ladies."
