The Assumption College Men's soccer team has been off to a steady start this season led by Head Coach Bryan Laut, Assistant Coaches Ryan Farias, and Christian Battaglia. Captains Chris Laut, Josh Cole, and Rafael Henckel, have helped the team come out with a 5-4-2 season overall. The team came back early to school to start their pre-season camp, which was found to be tough for everyone.

Senior Captain Josh Cole, who is the goalie, said "During pre-season, our play was nervous and timid, due to the large amount of freshman, but they quickly settled down and just played their game."

Sophomore defensive player Joe Dunn agreed.

"Pre-season was tough, but the team worked hand in hand," said Dunn. "We were really worked hard by the coaches, but I think that's why we became such a tight team, succeeded, and grew stronger in pre-season."

The team has been increasing in strength and confidence. They have come out with wins against Green Mountain, American International, Bentley, C.W. Post, and Bloomfield. Even though it's always exciting to win, the best game of the year so far ended in a tie against Southern New Hampshire, the top-ranked team in the Northeast.

AC ended up tying the top ranked team in the Northeast conference one to one.

"Our most exciting game was against Southern New Hampshire because we weren't supposed to do anything special in that game, and we ended up tying with them. That's how our team got ranked nationally," said Sophomore forward Anthony Piccola.

With high hopes, AC Soccer wants to make it into the playoffs. Freshman forward Mike Di Domenico is very excited about this goal.

"If we don't give up and keep working hard all season, we should make it into the playoffs," said Di Domenico.

The team has great strength and believes that they can make it all the way.

"The last game of the regular season against Bryant is going to be our toughest game," said Cole. "They have been doing well and it is going to be vital to go into the playoffs on a good note. Our biggest strength is our desire to win. We possess a ton of heart and don't stop fighting until the final whistle."
