Do you feel like your weekends have become routine? Either going out, staying in (sleeping), catching up on work, or seeing friends, and family... Well, two weekends ago was a little different for some of us who ventured on the START 2 Retreat.
START 2 is an opportunity to reflect and recharge your batteries. It is a two-day retreat so it is double the time and a deeper experience then START 1. Leaving campus may seem stressful for some people and excuses can easily be made as to why we shouldn't go. Ironically, the people who are scared to go are the same people that return on the Sunday after the retreat feeling renewed and having gained something meaningful from the experience. It may seem like this two-day retreat is too long but the way the retreat is designed, it makes the perfect length of time.
If you are interested in getting involved in START 2, there are many ways to help out on the team or to attend as a retreater. The retreat is an opportunity to learn about yourself and others. It gives you the chance to meet 40 new people at a different level and lets you appreciate the individuality of others on campus. You will hear numerous personal talks prepared by other students and enjoy countless entertaining memories. When else will you get the chance or have the time in your life to go on a retreat with your college peers? For many of us, the time is now.
You don't have to be Catholic or even religious to attend START 2. The retreat will challenge you to step out of your comfort level. It will remind you that life is not always as hard as we make it. In fact, life gains simplicity when we experience something enriching and inspiring.
Here are some of the reactions to last weekend's retreat:
"START 2 was a great retreat, because it gave me time to reflect on who I am. When we go day to day without taking time out of life to think about who we are, we sometimes need time to reflect and redirect. The rectors and team did such a great job and their enthusiasm was contagious, right from the beginning. Overall it was a good experience reflecting on my faith." - Junior Beth Sheehan
"START 2 was one of the BEST times I've had at Assumption. It was a very relaxing and spiritual 48 hours that came at a perfect time in the semester, definitely an overall good time!"- Junior Michela D'Eramo
"It's great getting to know others who take the time to learn more about themselves, other people, God, and life." - Senior Katie Lapolice
"START 2 is like the second layer of START 1. I just couldn't get enough! We're ready for the trilogy!" - Junior Chrissy Hanchett
Upcoming START 1- March 18-19, 2005
Upcoming Senior Retreat- February 11-12, 2005
