We all remember that memorable day back on October 27, 2004 when the Boston Red Sox won the World Series.
In particular, one individual on campus remembers the exact details of that day.
"It was mine and my husband's birthday. There was a full moon out and I remember standing on the football field under the goal post cheering and screaming along with all the students. I looked at my husband and said 'it doesn't get any better than this'. Not a bad way to celebrate my fiftieth birthday," Dr. Catherine WoodBrooks said with a smile.
It is with this attitude and behavior that Vice President of Student Life, Dr. WoodBrooks, shows her dedication and support to the students here at Assumption College.
WoodBrooks has held her position for two and a half years now. Her job entails the leadership and supervision of all co-curricular life.
Not only is WoodBrooks the Vice President of Student Life, but she is also the only female to hold a Vice President's position here at Assumption.
How does she feel about this?
Laughing, this 50-year-old petite woman with curls piled on top of her head says, "It's fun-I have wonderful colleagues. I never feel like I'm part of the boys' club."
Mario Silva, Director of Multicultural Affairs, comments on working with WoodBrooks, "It is a great pleasure to be part of the Student Life team and having her at the head of the department. She has been a great addition to Assumption College. Her understanding and breath of knowledge in a wide-range of issues makes her a valuable asset not only to the division but also to the community here at Assumption."
Her favorite part of the job is the consistent contact with students.
"I spend a lot of time on campus going to student programs, sporting events, student performances and lectures," WoodBrooks said. "One of my favorite projects to work on is the annual Mission Tag Sale. It supports the students who are participating in the missions and it is a real hoot working with the students and staff on this project."
