The Assumption Greyhound women’s basketball team delivered a strong season, finishing with an 20-8 overall record and earning the No. 3 spot in the NE10 Conference standings. Throughout the year, the Greyhounds proved their ability to close out tight games, including late-season victories over the Saint Anselm Hawks (53-48) and the Southern Connecticut State Owls (54-48), as they battled through a competitive schedule.

Led by head coach Kerry Phayre, the Greyhounds embraced an up-tempo and high-energy style of play. Despite having nine underclassmen on a 14-player roster, Assumption used its youth as a strength, pushing the pace in transition and relying on strong ball movement to find the hot hand on any given night.

This chemistry helped guide the Greyhounds through a competitive season. Assumption earned a bid in the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament after a strong regular season and conference play, capping off a year of growth and resilience.

Graduate student Teagan Curran credited the team’s collective mindset and trust as key reasons for the program’s success this season.

“We take it day by day and game by game,” said Curran. “Everyone has a role and we need everyone. We have talented players, and an amazing coaching staff, and we know we can count on each other and trust each other.”

For Curran, one of three seniors alongside Olivia Found and Teagan Kamm, the season carried special meaning. The trio helped lead a young roster while leaving a lasting impact on the program.

“I really couldn’t ask for a better group of players and people to do it with,” Curran said. “We are very close off the court and that is what it is all about. I am just enjoying every moment that this group has together. I am so lucky to have my fellow seniors, Olivia Found and Teagan Kamm. We have been through all the highs and lows together. I am so lucky to have had them by my side for the past four years.”

While the Greyhound’s postseason run ended prematurely, the team’s strong regular season and development of its young roster helped to build momentum for the program looking towards next season.

The Boston Bruins are in the midst of the 2025-26 NHL playoffs, so far, depending on a strong home ice presence and stellar goaltending to maintain their chances of making the playoffs. After a notable and monumental 2-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Mar. 3rd, the Bruins improved their record to 34-21-5 for the regular season and extended their home winning streak to 11 games total at TD Garden. The star of the night was goaltender Jermey Swayman, who stopped 34 shots and maintained the energy that enabled him to confidently return from the Winter Olympics. After giving up an early goal, Boston quickly struck back with two goals from Marat Khusnutdinov and Casey Mittelstadt, who scored the goals only 50 seconds apart in the first period. On the other side of things, the Bruins’ offensive output has been inconsistent; TD Garden has become an important factor this year due to their success at home, where they are 23-8-1. On the road, however, the Bruins have struggled more, portraying the ongoing challenge of remaining consistent away from home.

With the NHL trade deadline coming up, the discussion continues over how Boston’s potential lineup improvement will be in the final stretch, where the team and its staff will face crucial decisions. Boston is in the Eastern Conference wild-card hunt, and any type of move made may have a significant effect on how the season plays out. The franchise should focus its attention on making wise, thoughtful, and strategic signings that enhance the bottom six and provide special teams an extra boost instead of making a major move. Additionally, management has to find that balance between short-term ambition and long-term stability since prospects and draft picks are key components of the team’s future. Young players have already taken on larger roles this season, indicating a change toward integrating experienced leadership with rising talent.

Overall, how consistent the Bruins remain will determine their fate. Although their 23-8-1 home record has turned TD Garden into a powerhouse, strengthening their road performances will be vital in the final weeks. If the Bruins are able to maintain a defensive structure and produce timely offense, then they will put themselves in a beneficial position for the playoffs and hopefully a championship, allowing them to get their 7th Stanley Cup since 2011.

With the 2026 F1 season having started on March 8, it came with changes to the teams and the power units. There has been an addition to the grid layout, where now instead of the 10 teams and the 20 drivers on the grid, there are now 11 teams and 22 drivers. Cadillac is the edition to the grid with the team principle of the team being, Graeme Lowdon, and the 2 drivers for the team are veterans of the sport with a combination of 25 years, Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas, both drivers have experience being on the top step of the podium, as well as being on winning teams.

There is also the complete change of the power units, the power units of the 2026 F1 season, there is a completely even split between internal combustion units and an electrical unit. The cars and engines will be completely run off sustainable fuels, helping F1 step in their environmental commitments, and fulfill their promise to make the sport greener. Even with these changes to make the sport be able to continue to the future, there have been comments on the struggles this has been in regards to the engineering side and the struggles to adapt.

There have also been revisions in regards to the aerodynamics, and they are just as dramatic as the engines. This has been said to help improve the racing quality of the sport, as well as to help reduce the dirty air, and in theory, it will allow the cars to follow closer. But this has been shown in early testing there has been struggles of many teams and issues with the energy due to the hybrid systems and their developments.

The history of this sport is strong, and if this is any guide to the reset of the regulations to the stability, it will help prolong the sport, and make it successful. In the case for the fans, the changes that are being added, is something that will make the sport the most undetectable season there has been in all of the fans recent memories.

The Boston Celtics have entered the 2025–26 NBA season facing unfamiliar terrain. After a dominant run that included the 2024 championship and years of contention, the Celtics have begun a transitional chapter defined by uncertainty, resilience, and the hope of sustaining their title window without their biggest star.

The major storyline is Jayson Tatum’s Achilles injury, suffered in the playoffs last season. His absence, potentially for much of this year, leaves a massive scoring and leadership void. In his place, Jaylen Brown steps into the undisputed alpha role. Brown has long been the emotional heartbeat of the team, but this season is testing whether he can carry the offensive load night after night while maintaining Boston’s elite defensive identity.

Derrick White, fresh off his best statistical season, becomes equally critical. Expect White to take on expanded playmaking duties and remain a defensive anchor alongside Brown. Payton Pritchard, who won the sixth-man of the year award last season, could be poised for another massive year, especially if Boston plays faster and leans into its perimeter shooting.

So far, the team has started off rather slowly, losing to two of their main rivals, the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers. Brown, however, has started with an impressive stat line, averaging 25.4 points per game. The team currently sits at the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference.

The team has also seen success from some of their off-season acquisitions. Josh Minott, who the team acquired in free agency this summer, has been a force on both ends of the floor, which has earned him a spot in the starting lineup. Rookie Hugo Gonzalez has provided key minutes on the defensive end of the floor, and Anfernee Simons, whom the team acquired when trading away Jrue Holiday, has helped the team offensively off the bench.

These players, although not making up for Tatum’s absence, have helped maintain the Celtics’ culture of accountability, effort, and two-way discipline, keeping them firmly in the playoff mix. Vegas projects around 45–47 wins, a drop from recent 60-win campaigns, but still enough for a middle-tier seed in the East. If Tatum returns late in the season, the Celtics could instantly transform from a resilient playoff team into a dangerous dark horse.

The 2025–26 Celtics won’t be defined by dominance, but by determination. This season is about weathering adversity, developing depth, and proving that Boston’s championship DNA runs deeper than one superstar.

Aaron Rodgers is statically a top ten quarterback of all time. Aaron Rodgers has the number one career touchdown to interception ratio in NFL history and is still currently playing meaning it has room for improvement.

Rodgers also has an average career completion percentage of 65.2% which means he is ranked higher than Tom Brady, who had a career completion percentage of 64.2%. Rodgers has thrown for 64,441 yards in his career which puts him at number five all time, and has also thrown for 519 career touchdowns which puts him at number 4 all time.

In the beginning of the 2023-24 season as Rodgers embarked on his inaugural season with the Jets, on the third play of the game Rodgers tore his achilles, and ended his season. The next season Aaron Rodgers bounced back with vengeance, and posted impressive stats despite his team’s overall failure. In the 2024-25 season Rodgers posted similar stats to Patrick Mahomes while being “rusty” coming off injury, and not having the greatest wide receiver core.

In the previous offseason Aaron Rodgers signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers and has been off to a fantastic start. Aaron Rodgers Steelers are atop the AFC North with a record of 4-3. Rodgers’ top two targets this season have been DK Metcalf who has 461 receiving yards and a 23% target share, and tight end Pat Freiermuth who has 205 receiving yards and a 12% target share.

This season Rodgers has thrown for 1489 yards which places him as the 22nd ranked QB in passing yards. This stat doesn’t seem too impressive, however his team is run heavy as they are led by running backs Jaylen Warren, and Kenneth Gainwell.

This season Rodgers has a completion percentage of 68.3% which is better than his career average, and places him top 5, and has thrown for 16 touchdowns which ranks him third this season. These are impressive statistics so far considering Rodgers has had a bye week when many quarterbacks have not, meaning he is one game behind and as mentioned his team loves to run.

This weekend Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers get ready to take on the Colts as underdogs, and they look to avoid their third straight loss.

Drake Maye, born August 30, 2002 in Huntersville, North Carolina, is the young quarterback bringing fresh energy to the New England Patriots.

At 6′4″ and approximately 225 lbs, he profiles as a true dual-threat signal-caller, combining a strong arm and mobility. After a standout college career at UNC, where he led the nation in total offense in 2022 and earned ACC Offensive Player of the Year, Maye declared for the NFL and was taken third overall in the 2024 draft.

His rookie season showed flashes of promising upside with over 2,200 passing yards and contributions on the ground, earning him Pro Bowl alternate honors. Entering 2025, the momentum around Maye continues to build.

He’s seen as a legitimate MVP contender, with odds placing him near the top of the board thanks to an early season of sharp play and leadership. In a recent game, he completed 21 of 23 passes and added 62 rushing yards, demonstrating how his dual-threat ability is translating to real results.

More than raw statistics, what stands out is his poise and maturity. Coach Mike Vrabel praised Maye’s composure during a challenging joint practice, noting that he didn’t “go into the blender” when the pressure ramped up.Behind Maye is a strengthened supporting cast, including veteran WR Stefon Diggs and improved offensive line play, that creates a much better context for his growth than many young quarterbacks have.

In short, Drake Maye is no longer just a high-ceiling rookie; he’s evolving into a franchise player who seems capable of steering the Patriots back toward contention. With a mix of athleticism, intelligence, and improved team context, his trajectory is one to watch closely.

Daniel Griffin

Opinion Editor

Ever since I was young there were two things that meant the world to me: sports and family. Growing up in a big Irish family with many aunts, uncles, and cousins, my childhood was always surrounded by competition. Whether it be the late night kickball games in my nana’s backyard, the golf tournaments, or even the simplest thing as a game of Left-Right-Center, competing has always been in my blood, and is something that bonded me with my loved ones at a very young age.

Continuing this fire and passion for competition into my teenage years, it wasn’t until the Summer of 2021 where I turned my love for sports over to the electronic realm. Typically thinking of competition and sports as an outdoor activity, in the late summer as football season came around on a beautiful night on my grandmother’s back porch, my whole perspective would change. Just a few days after my grandfather had passed away and spending all our time together to support one another, as we sat on that porch talking about the Patriot’s chances for the upcoming season while tossing an old beat up football around, it came to me that we needed a fantasy football league.

Something I had never played before, my uncles and cousins who were vets fell in love with the idea, especially because we would all be in it together. Calling all our close family who would be interested, and setting a solid 10 man league to start, once the group chat was made this is where all the fun would begin.

Day in and day out as that first season approached, all I could remember was the constant banter and excitement in the groupchat. Everyone was so active and involved, once kickoff of Game 1 began, I knew we would be in for something special. An unimaginable blend of competition and fun, my family league, which I am the commissioner of, has been a great passion.

Combining so many different people in my family in a way we never could imagine, this league brought us all together more than ever before. A tight knit group to begin with but unable to see each other as much as we would like, the constant communications throughout the long and grueling NFL season reminds us all of the purpose of family.

In our 5th season and counting with no stopping in sight, every week I look forward to heckling my next opponent and the mid-week updates which excite us all. Over the years this league has meant so much to me and my family, and is something I wish to continue for the rest of my life.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is shaping up to be one of the most exciting tournaments to watch in recent years. With the competition expanding to 48 teams and hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, football fans are set to experience a global showcase of new talent, more teams, and shifting dynamics in the sport.

One of the biggest stories leading into the tournament comes from Cape Verde, a small island on the west coast of Africa. The small island nation, of about 600,000 people, has made headlines after a historic qualification run, marking its first-ever World Cup appearance. Cape Verde’s success comes from years of investment in their youth academies and the rise of players who have experience in European leagues. The nation erupted in celebration after the qualification being a historical moment for the nation as a whole.

Nations like Morocco and Japan, are also gaining attention for being real top contenders in the upcoming tournament. Morocco’s semifinal finish in 2022 demonstrated they have something to prove on the national stage. Japan’s fast pace and disciplined style of playing continues to be impressive against top teams. The traditional gap between large teams like Italy and Spain, and rising powers, like Cape Verde, has never been smaller, showing this tournament will be more unpredictable than ever.

In terms of players, a new wave of young talent is ready to display what they have to offer. Spain’s Lamine Yamal, at just 18, is making headlines at Barcelona, winning La Liga the last two seasons, and for the national team, winning tournaments like the UEFA European Championship. Brazil’s young talent is also something to watch for. Players like Endrick and Estêvāo are being spoken highly about in major sports news outlets for having quality play at the club level and showing skill in qualifier games. Additionally, players like Germany’s Florian Wirtz and England’s Jude Bellingham are anticipated to be tough competitors throughout the tournament.

As the road to 2026 continues, one thing is clear. This World Cup won’t just be about who wins, but who rises to the challenge to raise the highly coveted trophy.

When Lewis Hamiliton first stepped into the iconic Ferrari garage, it seemed like a fairytale in the making. After nearly 12 seasons with Mercedes, and seven world championships, his sudden 2025 switch to Ferrari seemed like a storybook ending to one of Formula One’s most decorated careers. But as the season unfolds, Hamilton’s new chapter in the Ferrari red has been less of a career revival, but more of an adjustment marked by frustration and unexpected struggles.

The early races revealed what most of the racing world predicted; that Hamilton’s transition would be anything but smooth. The 40-year-old has spoken candidly about his ongoing difficulties adapting to the SF-25, a car that differs drastically from what he’s used to back at Mercedes. “It’s a completely new car, a completely new way of working,” Hamilton told Last Word on Sports earlier this year, noting that he’s “still acclimatizing,” and it can be unpredictable.

One of Hamilton’s biggest headaches is the inconsistency he is experiencing at Ferrari. While this is not a new complaint, especially after hearing Charles Leclerc complain in recent years, it is causing Hamilton unnecessary frustration and impacting his overall performance as problems spark unpredictably. He has experienced struggles in feeling out of the car, with ongoing issues from set-up changes and car upgrades. Both Hamilton and his team on his side of the garage are working to get more comfortable and find a rhythm to produce better results on track.

Beyond the technical issues, Hamilton also faces the challenge of a change in culture and team environment, compared to what he was used to at Mercedes. Ferrari, a team rooted in Italian tradition and emphasis on a team-first operation, remains something that isn’t like how Mercedes operated. While it is unclear how long it may take for him to adjust, once adjusted it may be easier for him to find rhythm in the car and on track.

Hamilton has made it clear that he didn’t come to Ferrari for comfort but instead a challenge. For now, that challenge may be greater than he imagined, but if his career has proven anything, it’s that Hamilton has never been one to shy away from a fight.
