In this past NHL trade, the Bruins traded away many key franchise players, including captain Brad Marchand and forward Charlie Coyle. The frenzy all began with the trading of Trent Frederic to the Edmonton Oilers.

The Bruins also acquired former Bruin, Jakob Lauko, to be brought back and join the team. The speedy forward is known for grit and tenacity, and he was a key minutes player in a few Bruins playoff runs.

From the Avalanche trade, where they sent Charlie Coyle, the Bruins acquired 2 young forwards in Casey Mittlestadt and William Zellers.

However, the biggest trade that the Bruins made was trading their captain and longtime franchise cornerstone, Brad Marchand. Marchand was the last piece of the 2011 Stanley Cup team. He was traded to the Florida Panthers for a conditional pick pendant on which he plays 50% of the Panthers playoff games.

The Bruins also acquired forward Khusnutdinov, who has scored a few goals since being traded to the Bruins.

Based on this deadline, it is clear that the Bruins plan to rebuild and start a new regime of fast forwards and scoring close to the crease. They kept many key players in both Lindholm’s and their young key defensemen in McAvoy and Lohrei. Safe to say the Bruins will look different going forward.
