Assumption University has launched a new tool for the 2025-2026 academic year: Blue, Assumption’s very own artificial intelligence chatbot. Designed to help students with questions about campus, Blue uses AI to enhance students’ campus experience.

Students received a text message from Blue on Aug. 27, which read, “If you have any questions about Assumption, you can ask me! I’m an AI bot and strive for accuracy, but mistakes can happen. For important questions, confirm with Assumption staff.” The message also stated that messages sent to Blue are not anonymous.

Blue was announced in an email sent to students on Aug. 20 from Vice President for Student Success Conway Campbell. He wrote, “Blue will respond to your questions 24/7 – and for anything that requires more specific guidance or support, our team will be there to follow up with you personally every step of the way.”

The Office of Student Success is hoping that Blue will be a helpful tool for Assumption students. It will check in on them periodically and help them when they are feeling stressed or falling behind. For questions about classes, deadlines, or events, Blue will either answer directly or guide students to the best resource.

With many people skeptical of AI use, especially in college, the Office of Student Success promises to monitor Blue’s effectiveness consistently.

In a video released announcing the tool, Assumption student Austin Gaitlin explained, “There’s a whole team of student success professionals supporting Blue who are constantly improving the experience.” He added, “Spend less time searching campus for information, and more time doing the things you need to do.”
