This fall, as the hockey season starts up again, the Bruins are determined to regain their legacy as one of the NHL’s best teams. The 2024-2025 season was one of the team’s worst, breaking their 8 year playoff streak and leaving fans disappointed. The Bruins have made changes to their coaching staff and roster in order to rebuild for the upcoming season.

After a rocky start last season, head coach Jim Montgomery was fired and replaced with interim coach Joe Sacco. This season, Bruins alum Marco Strum will be taking over that role. It will also be his first time serving as a head coach in the NHL.

Another issue that fans are excited to see the team tackle is the vacancy of a captain.

Since the trade of Bruins veteran and team captain Brad Marchand last season, fans have been curious about how the team will deal with his absence. In June, Sturm shared in a 98.5 interview that there were no current plans to replace him, and that the team would instead rely on alternate captains David Pastrňák and Charlie McAvoy. Along with the unique captain situation, the Bruins have made controversial changes to their roster, most notably the trades of veterans Brandon Carlo and Charlie Coyle.

While the changes to the team are significant, many fans are optimistic that the team will be able to recover from last year and have a strong season. The Bruins will play their first game of the 2025-2026 season against the Washington Capitals in Washington D. C. on October 8th.
