The best series to watch on a cold snowy night would be the Hulu series, Only Murders in the Building. This show is captivating and has shocking twists and turns that will have you on the edge of your seat during every episode.
It is led by Selena Gomez, who plays Mable, Steve Martin, who plays Charles, and Martin Short, who plays Oliver. The show starts with them being three strangers who all live in the same apartment building in New York called the Arconia.
After the fire alarm is set off in their building, they meet at a restaurant and bond over a murder podcast that they all listen to. When they get back to the Arconia, they realize that a murder had occurred while the fire alarm was going off. Furthermore, there are no witnesses to the murder. I can’t spoil the show, but from there, they gather clues and start their own podcast to try and solve the murder that occurred.
The suspense and surprises will leave you gasping. I watched this show over the last two weeks of winter break, and I have not been the same since.
All of the actors’ chemistry and the humor within the show create a family dynamic between the three lead actors. Oliver is a failed Broadway director and producer. Charles is an actor, who is known only for one role that he played decades ago, and Mable is a young woman trying to make it in New York City.
As the show continues, you learn to love all the side characters, and the show takes deep dives into every person that you see. Every character, street sign, and film technique that is used holds significance and helps to bring the plot together. The show is not gory or scary. It brings extreme anticipation and will always leave you wanting more and wanting to click to the next episode.
They have begun production for season five and Only Murders in the Building has not lost any steam. I find it as thrilling as ever.
