The Red Sox are on the Trade Grind

After too many lackluster seasons, things seem to be looking up for the Red Sox. It is no secret that the team’s roster has been a factor in their poor performance over recent years. Instead of trading for established players, the roster has relied on promising draft picks, which does not always work out. However, this pattern seems to be coming to an end.
Third baseman Alex Bregman has signed a three-year $120 million contract with the Red Sox. Bregman, who was drafted by the Astros in 2016, has spent his entire career in Houston. He has an impressive career, winning two World Series, the Silver Slugger Award, and most recently, the Golden Glove Award. He became a free agent after declining a $21.05 million qualifying offer.
The change to the roster has sparked some controversy. Rafael Devers, also a third baseman, was asked if he would consider moving from third to designated hitter, his response was a “No.” When asked to elaborate, he simply explained, “I play third.” Despite the potential conflict over the hot corner, Bregman seems to be optimistic about the trade. “After talking with some of the guys over the last two days, I can see that there’s something special here,” Bregman shared with ESPN.
