Canada won the Four Nations Final against the United States 3-2 in overtime. Conner McDavid scored with 8:18 into overtime to give team Canada the win and send the United States home at the TD Garden in Boston.
Canadian players Nathan McKinnon and Sam Bennett scored goals alongside McDavid. Jordan Binnington was Canada’s goalie, and he gave up 2 goals and had 31 saves, while the US goalie was Connor Hellebuyck who gave up 3 goals and had 24 saves. Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews had two assists and Brady Tkachuk scored an early goal for the US. Jake Sanderson answered to put the US up a goal in the second period. “I think we left absolutely everything out there,” Brady Tkachuk said.
Tkachuk was active on the forecheck and was penetrating Canada’s defense throughout the night creating many scoring chances. In overtime, both teams were going back and forth in each other’s zones and kept putting the puck on the net.
Eventually, Canada had the puck in the US zone and the puck got loose in front and McDavid buried it top shelf to keep Canada as the best team in the world. Next year, the hockey world tournament is the Milano Cortina Olympics in February 2026 and the world is ready for some more international hockey.
