Hey everyone! My name is Maya Coulouras and I’m a junior here at Assumption. I’m also the student leader of the new 2024- 2025 chapter of Orthodox Christian Fellowship at Assumption!
Orthodox Christian Fellowship has not been on the Assumption campus since 2022; however, it is now making an amazing comeback! For anyone that does not know, Orthodox Christian Fellowship is a college ministry where Orthodox Christian college students can come together in community and fellowship.
It’s a great opportunity to meet other students who share the same faith that you might not otherwise have the chance to meet! We started meeting in the fall 2024 semester, and we are meeting this semester as well. We have a special guest that comes to some of our meetings, my priest Father Christopher Stamas from Saint Spyridon Cathedral in Worcester! The meetings are not only open to Orthodox Christian students at Assumption, but also to other colleges in the Worcester area as well!
The meetings usually center around a religious topic related to the Orthodox Faith. For example, one of the meetings last semester was about one of the recent Saints in the church, Saint Paisios. We talked about the life he lived and how he was an elder of the church. After that, we discussed a couple of discussion questions that related to our lives as college students today.
The meetings are typically fitted to meet the needs of the group, since we have such a small group. Orthodox Christian Fellowship is not only open to Orthodox Christian students, but any other students who may be interested as well!
We meet every Wednesday at 7 pm in the Tinsley building (building right next to the chapel) in the conference room! If anyone has any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to me at maya.coulouras@assumption.edu
