As we continue to push on into this new and frigid year, many of Playboi Carti’s longtime fans are turning a cold shoulder on the once phenomenal rapper. Extremely frustrated by the fact that he has still not dropped the album he promised so many fans, “I AM MUSIC,” in 2024 like he said he would, I on the other hand personally believe that there is a lot of promise that Carti will drop this album in 2025.
Initially announcing the release of this album, being the third studio album of his career, on Sept. 13 for pre-order, ever since the early fall fans eagerly anticipated the release of this prophesied masterpiece. Following a change in his style of rap, moving from a far more higher pitched voice in hit albums lie Die Lit (2018) and Whole Lotta Red (2020), with Carti now embracing a more natural and deep pitch to his voice, fans across the world would become lured into this mystery of this Atlanta rapper. Especially displayed in his notorious featured run of 2024 with songs like “FE!N” with Travis Scott on Utopia and “Carnival” with Kanye West on Vultures I, for many fans last year was Carti’s year. Still without an album of his own to provide to his fans, holding back on releasing the alleged creation for speculative reasons, many are turning to other artists to fill the void of not having Playboi Carti’s music in their lives. Feeling as if they wasted Fridays on end, staying up until midnight to see if he would drop on his infamous, “Carti Friday,” this let down is one that surely has devastated all of Young Vamp Life, but shouldn’t be looked at as the end of Playboi Carti.
Fans speculate that Playboi Carti will indeed drop in 2025, and within the first few months of the New Year. Letting fans down on New Years’ Eve as the glimmering moments to his 2024 campaign ended, with a star studded lineup of Friday’s in 2025,there is still hope. Just in Feb. alone with Valentine’s Day, falling on a Friday and Jul. in a couple of months down the road, these dates give some prospect to the fact that the rapper could release something very soon. On top of this with Playboi Carti himself announcing, “I’m dropping I Am Music 2024 on a Friday,” on Jan. 8 this ironic statement which continues to frustrate many long-term fans should be seen as proof of better to come. Pressured by influencers like Kai Cenat at the Grammys red carpet as well as teased about leaked songs from the album, these forces coming down on Carti from a passionate and adoring fan base turned frustrated, all lead to the fact that the rapper will possibly drop his album in 2025.
One of the most heavily anticipated, sought after, and desired albums of the recent period, fans are hoping that Playboi Carti will drop this album in 2025. Becoming far more active on social media platforms over the past couple of weeks and seeming to be gaining a better understanding of where his fans are at with their frustrations, there is most certainly a lot of good to come from this face of Opium’s record label in the near future.
