Worcester WooSox Begin 2025 Season

The WooSox have kicked off their 2025 season and have done so with two of the best prospects in baseball, Roman Anthony and Marcelo Mayer. The Red Sox farm system has been vastly improved and they have created a AAA superpower in the Worcester WooSox.

Polar Park has become a huge attraction in Worcester and has brought a team forgotten in Pawtucket to a team renewed in Worcester. Led by their mascot Smiley, the WooSox have a 3-5 record to start off the year, but that doesn’t tell the whole story.

Within the team are two sleeping giants. The number one prospect in baseball, Roman Anthony, has been crushing opposing pitchers and has hit 2 mammoth home runs in the first week of the season.

Marcelo Mayer, who was a first round pick in 2020 for the Red Sox, has proven to be the heart and soul of the WooSox team and is driving in runs at an alarming rate. His awareness of situational hitting has led him to 9 RBIs in 8 games and 2 home runs.

Another Key member of the team is Bryan Mata, who is a right handed pitcher with a 2.45 ERA and is 1-0 on the season.

 The WooSox will be an exciting watch this year with the high rated prospects in the Red Sox system. Worcester should be on the edge of their seat for a good team this summer.
