Baseball Season is Almost Over

The Greyhounds are off to a slow start this season; after 36 games played, the overall record is 4-32, 2-18 in conference play, and 1-4 in neutral play. The four wins were against Pace University, Saint Michael’s College (x2), and University of Minnesota Crookston (during the teams’ pre-season trip to Florida).
The season’s leaders for batting average are Jack Barry with a .343 average, Cody Smith with a .312 average, and Jamison Howland with a .301 average. Leaders for slugging percentage are Jack Barry at .606 percent, Cody Smith at.471 percent, and Chris Klein at .418 percent. The hits leaders are Jack Barry with 47 recorded hits, Cody Smith with 43 hits, and Jamison Howland with 41 hits. The runs-batted-in leaders are Jack Barry with 28 RBIs, Chris Klein with 23 RBIs, and Owen Podolec with 20 RBIs.
The season’s pitching leader for earned run average is Evan McCarthy with an ERA of 3.21. The leaders for opposing batting averages are Evan McCarthy with an OBA of .243 and Evan Remington with an OBA of .346. The batters struck out leaders are Evan McCarthy with 56 strike outs and Evan Remington with 44 strike outs.
On April 22, the Greyhounds played American International College in a day-night double header. In game one, both teams broke the NCAA DII record for most runs scored in a single game with a combined score of 58 and the record for runs batted in at 53. In the same game, Jack Barry set a new program record for home runs in a game at 4. Additionally, the Greyhounds had 8 home runs, setting the second most in a single game in program history.
The last series of the regular season will be against Saint Anselm College on May 2 and 3 at home.
