No book has ever pulled me into a fantasy world faster than Rebecca Yarros’ ‘Fourth Wing.’ ‘Fourth Wing’ is the first of five books in the Empyrean Series. The fast paced fantasy novel allows readers to be fully immersed in the novel while they read.

The book grew in popularity on Tik Tok and other social media in 2024 following the release of the third book in Jan. of 2025. I read all three of the released novels at the beginning of this year, after I had learned about them on Tik Tok, and saw the obsession that readers had with the books. I understood the obsession very quickly as I finished all three novels in two weeks.

‘Fourth Wing’ is set aside from many other books in the fantasy genre because of the beautiful writing style that Yarros uses in her novels. Her language is creative, fun, and complex but also easy to understand. This is easily one of my favorite books for many reasons, but number one being that the main character is a strong female lead.

The book is told entirely from the female main character, Violet’s point of view. Violet is strong headed, even despite the many challenges she faces in the book, and she’s an inspiration to everyone. I, along with millions of other fans, are anxiously awaiting the next two books, as the thing Rebecca Yarros does best is leaving her readers on cliff hangers. Overall rating: 10/10.
