“Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to the Section 10 podcast.” The staple introduction to an innovative sports podcast that brings the fans face to face with their favorite players of their hometown team.
The Section 10 Podcast is a Red Sox podcast hosted by four New England locals, Jared Carrabis, Coley Mick, Steve Perrault, and Tyler Milliken. Originally broadcast through Barstool Sports, the podcast is hosted on Underdog Fantasy after a few years hiatus. With a big reopening in the 2024 season, “Section 10” has brought back energy and attention to the Boston Red Sox.
There is no doubt that their media contribution to the team has catapulted the eyes of the city back to Fenway Park and changed the course of this season. From talking about Trash Island to an episode of “Suns Out Guns Out”, a Phoenix Suns podcast, “Section 10” covers all bases from entertainment to informative information about the Red Sox.
The leader of the group, Carrabis, brings energy and laughter, which gives a warm feeling of friendship throughout the four men. Mick, the dad of the group, gives big laughs and stern opinions that make listening to the podcast unique. Perrault brings his family and his forecast of the weather to the table and provides a hilarious commentary every episode. Milliken is the young, informative statistics guy of the group and recently turned poet. His personality and general unawareness lead to funny moments throughout the season. Finally, the producer of the podcast is Jake Yasi, who has funny one liners and dishing out suspensions. No one wants to say an opinion or hot take that Yasi doesn’t agree with.
Interviewing and forming relationships with active and former Red Sox players allows fans to get insight into the personal qualities of so many important Boston sports figures. The most unique aspect of the podcast is the Klark’s Ketchup series MVP. The podcasters reach out to broadcasters, alumni, and other influencer figures to determine who the best Sox player of the series is. Music generated by AI and numerous sound board effects foster an outlet where Sox fans can laugh about life and the Red Sox.
There doesn’t seem to be a podcast doing it at the highest level like they do every season. I highly suggest taking a listen and enjoying the lighthearted humor that these five New Englanders bring to life.
