On Aug. 26, the world stopped; a single Instagram post sent the world into chaos. That specific post? Taylor Swift’s engagement announcement to Travis Kelce. Swift and Kelce have been dating for around two years before they decided to tie the knot.

Their relationship has been in the public eye from the very first time Kelce had even acknowledged Swift, on his podcast ‘New Heights.’ Their love story started on an episode that was filmed after Kelce had gone to the infamous Eras Tour at Arrowhead Stadium, Kelce’s home field. Kelce poked fun at Swift for “not wanting to meet him” and how he had made a friendship bracelet (a tradition among Swifties) with his number on it. Swift, seeing this podcast decided to take a chance and connect with him, turning out to be her happily ever after.

As Swifties know, Swift has had a long dating history with both good and bad endings, both fueling her incomparable eleven studio albums. All albums are about stages in her life and more specifically her love life, able for anyone to relate to. After years of passion, love, and heartbreak, Swift has finally met her match.

This news comes after the biggest two years of Swift’s career with her mega tour, spanning over 149 shows, 51 cities, and across 21 countries. Her spotlight was unimaginable, getting even bigger with the news of her dating one of the best professional football players. Now, everyone in the world will tune into the wedding that their fans have all been waiting for.

If this wasn’t excitement enough for all Swifties, Swift is also dropping her twelfth studio album on Oct. 3 titled ‘The Life of a Showgirl,’ thought to be written about her now fiancé, Travis Kelce. Swift announced this album on Kelce’s podcast, making it a full circle moment for those who have been following this relationship.

This album seems to be a complete 180° from her latest, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, which was a hurt and solemn album, following her breakup from her long term boyfriend, Joe Alwyn. In the words of Swift, this new album has “melodies that were so infectious that you’re almost angry at it” (New Heights). This news excites fans as it is suspected to be a fun, dancy, pop album that is entertaining to listen to. Fans have been comparing it to her fifth studio album, ‘1989’, also a dance-ridden album that captures what it feels like to be young and happy in a big city. A huge success for Swift’s discography.

No matter what the new album and future holds for both Swift and Kelce, the Swifties worldwide are ecstatic to be able to support both as they embark on this new journey together. As well as being impatient for the new album to drop Oct. 3, It’s a very eventful and exciting time for the Swifty community and we can’t wait to see what comes next!
