Once a Showgirl, always a Showgirl. Taylor Swift released her tenth studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl” on Oct. 3 and it is filled with every emotion. The album was a very long time coming. After the shocking announcement on her fiancée’s podcast – “New Heights” with Travis and Jason Kelce – people were anticipating this new era to be her best.

“The Life of a Showgirl” has a total of twelve songs that consist of heartbreak, true love, feuds, and friendship. Her recent engagement with the Kansas City Chiefs football star, Travis Kelce, inspired many of the “The Life of a Showgirl” tracks. “Honey”, “Wood”, and “Opalite” all emphasize the new chapter of life she has entered.

On the flip side, Swift included some revenge-worthy songs.  “Actually Romantic” was a clear dig at singer Charli XCX, as it is very similar to the “Apple” singer’s song “Everything is romantic”. The track highlighted her ongoing problems with Charli XCX, saying she called Swift a ‘Boring Barbie’.

Although there is some tension stirring, the album also stresses the importance of friendships. In the song “CANCELLED!” Swift opens up about having loyalty to her friends, no matter what the rest of the world thinks. This may be a hint to Sabrina Carpenter, who received some backlash for her “Man’s Best Friend” album cover. Carpenter also has a feature on the title track of the album.

Like all pieces of art, it is open for interpretation. There are a variety of different opinions about the album from across the internet. Some believe this is her “worst album” and that it “sounds like AI made it”. Others are very supportive and think it is a “no skip” album. I guess you’ll just have to listen and see for yourself. From the words of Miss Swift herself, “That’s our show, we love you so much goodnight”
