When students think about career planning, many assume it’s something to worry about senior year. Spoiler, it’s not!

Assumption’s Denecker Career Development & Internship Center (CDIC) wants students to know that its resources are designed for every stage of the college experience; from first-year exploration to post-graduation planning.

Located in Alumni Hall and open to all students, the Denecker CDIC offers individualized support that goes far beyond résumé reviews. Whether a student is unsure about a major, looking for internships, preparing for interviews, or hoping to connect with alumni, the center provides guidance tailored to each student’s goals.

This semester, the Denecker CDIC is expanding its visibility through a mix of campus-wide events and more informal opportunities to connect. One of the center’s most anticipated events, Alumni Networking Night, is scheduled for March 25. While details are still being finalized, the event will give students the chance to hear directly from alumni and begin building professional connections that extend beyond campus.

Additionally, for students looking for a low-pressure way to get started, the Denecker CDIC will also host drop-in hours at the Cross-Cultural Center on February 23, March 10, March 26, and April 23, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. These sessions are designed to make career conversations more accessible, and there is no appointment required.

In addition to public events, the Denecker CDIC is actively embedded in Assumption’s academic experience. This semester alone, the center is conducting more than 20 classroom presentations and workshops, working directly with specific courses and student groups to provide targeted career and internship guidance; so you may have a chance to connect!

Beyond events, the Denecker CDIC’s core mission remains consistent: helping students translate their interests, skills, and experiences into meaningful next steps. Students can schedule one-on-one appointments to discuss career paths, internship searches, application materials, or long-term professional planning. Appointments are made through the Denecker CDIC’s scheduling system on their website, and staff encourage students to reach out early — not just when a deadline is looming.

The Denecker CDIC is open during regular business hours Monday through Friday, 8:30-4:30 p.m, and welcomes students at any point in their academic journey. Whether you know exactly what you want to do or are still figuring it out, the center’s resources are there to help students move forward with confidence.

For more information on services, hours, location, or how to make an appointment, students are encouraged to connect with the Denecker Career Development & Internship Center directly through their website, or email.
