On Valentine’s Day this past February, the popular folk-rock group, The Lumineers, dropped their new album “Automatic” on all streaming platforms. “Automatic” features eleven songs with a total playing time of about 33 minutes, which is short for a full album duration. Their most popular song has been “Same Old Song,” which was released early on Jan. 8 as a preview to the upcoming album.
“Same Old Song” carries classic Lumineers motifs of meaningful lyrics, emotional connection, and instrumental variety. According to Broadway World, “Same Old Song” is the fastest-rising single growing in popularity of the band’s career, across all five of their major album releases.
A less popular song on the album, “Sunflowers,” is a completely instrumental piece with no words, yet it still allows the listener to create a story of their own. Fans of The Lumineers appreciate the talent of their lead pianist, Jeremiah Fraites, who invokes emotion without the use of lyrics at all.
Along with their new album, The Lumineers have announced their Automatic World Tour for 2025, which will kick off in America in July and run through mid-October in stadiums, arenas, and amphitheaters, according to Broadway World. The Lumineers will be visiting venues local to New England, including Citi Field in New York, Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, Maine Savings Amphitheater in Maine, and Fenway Park in Massachusetts. A second show was recently added to Fenway Park, due to the popularity and interest of the venue, which caused an immediate ticket sell-out. Most pre-sales have concluded, but tickets can be repurchased on major sites, such as Ticketmaster, StubHub, or VividSeats.
The Lumineers joined Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show to advertise their new album last week. The band, directed by lead musicians Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites, played “Same Old Song”, officially kicking off their album release and preparation for the upcoming tour.
