Rainy Day? Go See “The Starry Night”

After living in Worcester for almost two years now, you would think I would be more out and about than I actually am. But fear not, I recently got the pleasure of going to one of the finest places Worcester offers, the Van Gogh Immersive Experience.
Truthfully, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. The name sounded lovely enough to me, and I try not to spoil events by a Google search. If you find yourself intrigued by my lighthearted review, I hope you would consider doing the same.
So…I found myself stepping through the threshold of the experience on Valentines day, and was immediately captivated. No, not just by the photographer who took my picture, but by the beauty and aura that surrounded me.
I was first met with various snippets of information regarding Van Gogh’s early life; consisting of family, friends, and interests. Walking into the exhibit with a premeditated notion about the artist was the wrong thing to do, as it quickly altered upon learning more about his early life.
Ignorant of me, sure, but when I first learned about Van Gogh in middle school, you only remember so much…right?
Nonetheless, I continued through the exhibit in awe, tripping over my own feet and bumping into others. I managed to stop right before the ‘main’ part of the exhibit- the immersion.
If only words could describe- I feel like I cannot do it justice simply by writing. To be met with a beautiful display of colors, sights, and sounds, is something I would love to experience again. There are chairs, rugs and bean bags to accompany you during your stay. You will find it to be comforting, as the room invites you in just as much as the artwork.
Maybe it is a cliche, but I was always a fan of “The Starry Night”, as my stepdad and I talked about it constantly during my childhood. As it held personal significance to me going into the experience, it meant all the more once I left. I encourage you to seek the same feeling, or at least, be curious enough to.
