A Commuter Routine: Not Knowing what to Expect on the First Day of Class

As a commuter, my first day may have looked very different from a majority of students on campus. I live twenty three minutes away from campus and so because of that my life is very different from most students who live on campus.
My alarm goes off at 6 a.m letting me know that the first day of class starts today- which I then snoozed many times since I didn’t want to believe school actually started in a few hours. I finally got out of bed at 7:30 a.m.
My first class starts at 9:30 a.m so I still have time and do not have to rush. I sigh as I get up from bed. My cat, Apollo, greets me– he is only meowing at me to feed him but I have to brush his teeth first before he can get his wet food that he gets every morning. I put on my sandals as I went to the bathroom to officially start my morning. I brush my teeth, I shower, I get dressed.
The time is now 8 a.m, so now I have to do stuff a bit quicker due to me not knowing if there will be traffic on the highway. I think most traffic is because people don’t know how to drive.
When I am done with my own duties, I focus on my cat. I brush his teeth and it usually goes fast unless he decides to give me a hard time. After brushing his teeth I give him his wet food, then refill his water and food bowl that has dry food in it while he is busy eating his wet food.
I then head downstairs to clean his litter box and make sure I stir his litter and that his bowls down there are refilled as well.
The time is now 8:15 a.m. I quickly give him his dental bites and motion towards the door. Then, I grab the car keys and turn on the car while my mom is now getting ready to take me to school. By the time she is ready, the time is now 8:35 a.m.
My mom and I say goodbye to my cat and then we head to the car and hop in. Since I’m stubborn, I am in control of the aux and play “Heathers the Musical” Soundtrack. The songs are blasting out and I am singing on top of my lungs- even though my voice is not warmed up.
As my mom drives, luckily for me there was no traffic on that day. I managed to get to school early. The time is now 9:08 a.m. Although, I still ended up late to class because I didn’t know where they were. Come to find out, my classes were all very close to each other.
I am now a pro at knowing where my classes are, which makes things easier for the future.
