As the end of the semester looms, it’s fitting that during the holiday season, we look back on the many things we’re grateful for here at Assumption. So, in no particular order, here are ten things we’re grateful for.
1. Getting out of class early
If there’s one thing better than having a class canceled, it’s getting out of class early. You’re able to achieve the satisfaction of attending class but being able to leave early! This gives you the ability to get a coffee at Caribou or finish that assignment you’ve been putting off!
2. Meal Swipes
Meal swipes, the saving grace of our bank accounts! Meal swipes allow us to grab food in a pinch without wasting any money! Since Chuck’s remodeling, it has allowed for more tasty options to be at our disposal.
3. Doordash
When late night cravings kick in, Doordash is always there for us! As college students Doordash can be such a useful service when Tay’s or Chuck’s is closed, or if you’re craving some Chick Fil A! It’s also a treat when Doordash sends you coupons or has discounts!
4. Access to Academic Buildings After Class
When you need to print or want a productive place to study, the academic buildings always pull through. If you want to host a study session, work alone, or need to print, you don’t need to fret about when to do it! Having buildings open 24/7 allows for time management and reduces cramming and any worries about completing work!
5. Walkable Campus
Despite the occasional hill every now and then, Assumption has a very walkable campus. Assumption’s central campus makes it easy to get to classes on time, and to get to other locations easily. Especially, going to school in the city, it’s especially amazing that we have a walkable campus.
6. Ben and Jerry’s in Chucks
As if an ice cream machine in Tay’s was good, a freezer dedicated to Ben and Jerry’s ice cream is even better. If you’re craving a sweet treat but don’t want to go to the store or Tay’s, Chucks solves all those problems! Having a pint of Ben and Jerry’s is perfect for watching a movie with some friends, or a solo night in!
7. On Campus Clubs
On campus clubs are a great way to get involved in the campus community, as well as meeting new people! They also hold amazing events that gives you a reason to stop doom scrolling in your dorm and go out and have some fun! Being a part of a club also looks great on your resume!
8. Small Class Sizes
Small class sizes ensure the most personalized learning experience. It guarantees that you will be able to participate and create a meaningful connection with your professor. It’s also a great way to meet new people!
9. Office Hours
Office Hours allow for specific questions to be answered in a less time-constricted manner. It allows for more meaningful learning to occur by having a one-on-one session with your professor.
10. Professors Bringing their Dogs to Class
It’s an absolute treat to walk into class and see a happy smiley dog lying next to the podium! It allows for any stress you have to float away, by getting to pet your professor’s furry friend!
Happy holidays Hounds!
