Gen Z Advisor

Ever since President Donald Trump entered the political realm, he has heavily involved his family in his policy-making decisions. Whether that be his daughter, Ivanka Trump, who served as one of his advisors, or his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, who was his Senior Advisor along with Stephen Miller, the President has garnered both praise and criticism for allowing his family to help influence his governing decisions. Now, a new family member who typically has stayed out of the public eye may be one of the key reasons that Trump made significant gains in the youth vote in the 2024 presidential election. That being his youngest son, Barron Trump.
At 18 years old, Barron Trump is currently a student at New York University. Known for towering over his father at 6 foot 7 inches, he spent the majority of Trump’s first presidency in New York with his mother, Trump’s third wife, Melania Trump.
Barron was just 11 years old when his father first became President, and never failed to capture people’s attention when he was spotted in public. Because of his popularity, he became an important figure in Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. Now that he is 18, the youngest son of the President was a key player in Trump’s gains in the youth vote in his recent election victory.
Baron received some of the loudest cheers when he began to attend his father’s rallies last summer. The 18-year-old, who is hardly ever caught talking on video, was caught talking to Dana White at an election night event alongside his father. The video went viral alongside a resurfaced video of a young Barron, growing up in Trump Tower, which saw him saying the word “suitcase” in his Slovenian accent.
According to Trump himself, Barron was the one who encouraged him to go on Joe Rogan’s podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience.” Former Vice President Kamala Harris was offered by Rogan to go on his podcast, but she declined. Trump’s interview on the podcast garnered 55 million views on YouTube.
As youth are now getting their news from primarily social media, politicians have to reach voters in different ways than they are used to. This election proved that the traditional interview on CNN or Fox News isn’t going to reach a target group of voters that a candidate might be lacking support of. Barron Trump arguably is the reason why more young voters turned out for Trump in this election as compared to his previous two runs for the Oval Office. And as Trump is now 78 years old and likes to include his family in his administration, it might be time for him to establish a position for Barron, that being, a Gen Z Advisor.
